Newport Surfboard Showers was founded by Garyn Whatmough.  Garyn is both a general contractor and an electrician, but his passion has always been fine woodworking.  As it often does, life took Garyn on many adventures before he discovered where he is truly most comfortable - at home in Newport, RI or St. Maarten.  It is no coincidence that both of these locations are communities centered around the ocean.

After a hot summer day at the beach followed by a walk around the neighborhood with his dog, Garyn was hosing off in the yard when an idea struck him.  Why hose off when I can just as easily shower away the sand and hose down the dog while I am at it?  And if he was to build an outdoor shower, why not make something that is worth looking at when not in use?  An idea was born!
